Zero Waste Week

Each year, Home ReSource organizes Zero Waste Week. One week to think differently about what we buy, use and throw away.

Let’s talk about garbage.

Did you know that in 2018, the City of Missoula adopted ZERO by FIFTY: Missoula’s Path to Zero Waste? As a community, we are working to reduce our garbage by 90% by the year 2050. Here’s why that’s important. We know that half of carbon emissions come from our food waste and our things.  We also know that on average, Montanans throw away 8 lbs of garbage every day – more than the national average.
Zero Waste Week is an opportunity to take just one week to think differently about what we buy, use, and throw away.

During Zero Waste Week, don’t forget to take the Zero Waste Pledge!

There are small and big things we can all do to reduce waste in our community.  When you take the Zero Waste Week Pledge, you are commiting to try two new things to reduce your waste at home, in the office, or in your neighborhood.  Each day of Zero Waste Week you will receive a curated email with simple lifestyle changes or activities that you can do to make a big difference.
Bonus points!! Get a chance to win a Home ReSource gift card for sharing your experience on social media!

During Zero Waste Week you can be a part of zero-waste activities across Missoula!

Events during the 2024 Zero Waste Week:

  • Tour of Soil Cycle and learn about composting
  • Visited the ResilienceMT exhibit at spectrUM in Missoula Public Library
  • Checked out special sales and workshops at Home ReSource
  • A free zero waste film screening at The Roxy followed by a local expert panel ready to answer questions about waste

We know that Missoula cares deeply about the quality of our air and watershed, and about the vibrance of our local economy.

Join us for Zero Waste Week – and together, we can make less waste a big deal.

Thank you for the support!

Home ReSource is grateful to our 2024 sponsors for making Zero Waste Week Possible and accessible to our community.
