Home ReSource is working hard to help Missoula find the best options for their no-longer-needed things. To aid with this, we have started a Hard to Recycle Materials program to help these items get to their next best spot.
Fluorescent Lightbulbs
Fluorescent lightbulbs contain mercury, and if disposed of improperly (even in the landfill) the mercury can leak out into our watershed. With this program, we collect and send out these lightbulbs where they are processed and broken down into their individual materials (metal, glass, mercury) and then repurposed with their base materials.
Accepted types of bulbs include:
- 2- and 4-foot Tubes (T5, T-8, T12) ($2.50/bulb)
- CFLs ($1.50-$2.00/bulb)
- U-Bend ($2.50/bulb)
- Circle ($2.25/bulb)
All bulbs must be fully intact and not broken to be accepted. Note prices are subject to change based on market fees.
Household Hazardous Waste
We have partnered with Missoula County to host the Household Chemical Collection and Disposal Facility. This is an appointment only facility. Find out more about accepted products, cost, and how to register for an appointment here.
Metal
Metal is recyclable. Home ReSource will take your ferrous scrap metals and recycle them through Pacific Recycling. By dropping off your metal to us, you allow us to collect the recycling income for this material.
Waste Wizard Tool
As we continue to find avenues for hard to recycle materials that don’t have options yet in Missoula, there are many local resources and business that already take items. Check out our Waste Wizard tool by typing in your item below and finding out what options are available. If your item doesn’t exist in our database yet, you can leave a suggestion to add it!
