Youth Internship Program

The Home ReSource Youth Internship Program (YIP) gives high school-aged youth the chance to earn a paycheck while building real-world skills and confidence.

Each year, up to 30 participants gain hands-on experience in a supportive, team-based environment. Interns learn job readiness skills like reliability, communication, and problem-solving, while also receiving shop and safety training that prepares them for future opportunities in the trades and sustainability fields.

Since launching in 2015, more than 80 young people have participated. Some have gone on to join the Home ReSource as staff, and all leave with skills and experience that open doors.

YIP is an investment in our community’s future. By supporting young people today, we are helping build a skilled workforce, expanding access to meaningful careers, and strengthening a more sustainable local economy.

We offer sessions throughout the year, including a 10-week paid summer internship for Indigenous teens that centers skill development, job readiness, and cultural connection.
