Spontaneous Construction (SponCon) is Home ReSource’s wildly imaginative, annual creative reuse challenge, where teams turn carts of salvaged materials into something completely unexpected in just 7 hours.
Every SponCon build celebrates the possibilities of reuse, keeps useful materials out of the landfill, and brings people together to imagine what’s possible when we look at “waste” a little differently. In 2026, 100 people took part in SponCon to build some of the most beautiful, creative and resourceful creations yet!
Bid on SponCon creations and celebrate with us at the Zero Waste Awards on October 3 from 6-8:30 pm. All proceeds support Home ReSource community programs.

Home ReSource is Missoula’s nonprofit sustainability center that keeps building materials and household goods in circulation while making reuse accessible to our community. Through our ReUse store, education programs, FixIt Clinics, Community Woodshop and community events like Spontaneous Construction, we’re building a more resourceful, creative, and sustainable Missoula, one salvaged treasure at a time.
