Did you know there is a fully equipped, professional woodshop inside the Reuse Store?

The woodshop is a welcoming place to learn, build, and create. You can join a hands-on workshop, attend Open Woodshop hours, or get trained to use the tools for your next project.

Whether you are new or experienced, there is a way for you to get involved.

Open Woodshop Hours – Community Workshops – Group/Organization Workshops

Starting October 10 – Open Woodshop Hours available on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM!

Community Open Woodshop takes place Fridays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:oo PM.
Bring your project and use our space, tools, and support to make it happen. All skill levels are welcome. Advanced registration required.

New to the tools? Start with free tool training Fridays only from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
You only need to train on the tools you plan to use.  Please arrive on time, as late arrivals may not be able to complete training.

Tool trainings follow this schedule:

First Friday –  Miter Saw & Band Saw
Second Friday – Table Saw & Router Table
Third Friday – Jointer & Planer
Fourth Friday – First Come, First Serve
Fifth Friday – Overhead Sander & Drill Press

After completing training, you can use a range of professional equipment, including the SawStop table saw, compound miter saw, planer, jointer, drill press, routers and router table, bandsaw, and Tormek sharpening system.

Cost and registration:

• Tool training is always free at Home ReSource!
• Open Woodshop time is offered on a sliding scale of $15 – 25 per hour, based on household income. (See below for more details.)
• Register in advance to reserve your spot, space is limited.

Bonus: Materials for many projects are available in the ReStore!

Scholarship Options: Home ReSource is excited to offer program fee reduction coupon codes to qualifying individuals for Community Woodshop hours. These waivers offer a 25%-50% and are based on income. Please fill out the Workshop Fee Reduction Form at least one week in advance to see if you qualify.

Prefer step-by-step guidance? Community Workshops are hands-on classes where you learn skills and complete a project to take home. They are designed for everyone, from first-time makers to experienced DIYers.

These workshops are offered in partnership with the Lifelong Learning Center. Registration and payment are handled through the website or by phone. Class fees include instruction, shop time, and project materials.

Home ReSource offers hands-on workshops for schools, youth programs, and community groups. Participants learn shop safety, tool use, reuse skills, and job-ready woodworking techniques.

Groups can build small projects to take home or work together on items that support the community, such as garden beds for the Missoula Food Bank and Community Center. Past partners include Youth Homes, Girl Scouts, and Forward Montana.
