Frame and Panel Black Cherry Bookcase

In this 6-part workshop, you’ll build a high-quality frame and panel cherry bookcase that blends Shaker, modern, and Craftsman design elements. This hands-on workshop guides you through creating a timeless piece using solid cherry for the rails, stiles, top, base, and legs, combined with furniture-grade plywood for the side and back panels to ensure structural stability and a finished look.

Skills: Furniture design and planning, jointing and planing, cutting and shaping furniture parts, frame and panel construction, material selection, domino joinery, adjustable shelf layout and installation, glue-ups, applying a finish coat 

Size: 36″W x 15″D x 36″H with two adjustable shelves

Session 1: Tool training, lumber selection
Session 2: Shape and cut lumber, prepare the top for glue-up
Session 3: Apply solid nosing, sand all pieces, glue the solid cherry top
Session 4: Cut sheet goods, glue-up frames, assemble frame and panels
Session 5: Final assembly, final sanding, shelf fitting
Session 6: Final touches, apply Rubio Monocoat hard wax and oil finish
