Intro to the Woodshop: Edge-grain cutting boards
In this classic course, learn how to safely plan, layout, and execute a basic woodworking project in the Home ReSource woodshop. Select & identify pieces from reclaimed and new hardwood, then design, build, and finish a beautiful edge-grained cutting board. Participants will train on the miter saw, jointer, planer, router table, and table saw to complete this project. Cutting board may be built to any size up to 20 ”x15”x1½”
Session 1: Tool & safety training; introduction to selecting hardwoods for cutting boards; process reclaimed wood
Session 2: Mill material; begin glue-ups
Session 3: Flattening; sanding; add edge details
Session 4: Final sand; apply food-safe mineral oil finish
Dates: Wednesday, November 19, Thursday, November 20, Monday, November 24, Tuesday, November 25 (4 sessions)
