Youth Programs

Home ReSource work programs have provided paid job-skills training to hundreds of people experiencing barriers to employment since 2007. In 2015, increasingly aware of obstacles faced by many young people in our community, we launched the Youth Internship & Apprenticeship component of our work programs to provide meaningful employment experience to teens and young adults. In partnership with area schools and other youth-focused programs, we provide a safe, structured work environment, mentoring, paid job training, school credit, and a reference to participants under twenty-four years of age. Over the last three years, we have provided internships and apprenticeships to more than 33 primarily low income young people, five of whom went on to become permanent Home ReSource staff. These young people have become integral to our store team, inspiring us with their energy and optimism, and benefiting from the knowledge and kindness of their supervisors and coworkers.
